Jai Dee Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Thai consulates and embassies ready for overseas general election The Ministry of Foreign Affairs instructs all Thai consulates and embassies to check the name list of Thai eligible voters living abroad as preparation for an oversea election scheduled in December. Deputy Director-General of the Department of Information and Deputy Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Piriya Khempon (พิริยะ เข็มพล), reveals that the ministry has asked the consulates and embassies to expedite the examination of the name list. He expresses his belief that the oversea general election will have no problems concerning the delivery of ballots back to Thailand, electoral fraud, and budget. Regarding movements of protestors against the government, Mr Piriya says the consulates and embassies have sufficient security officials to safeguard the election. He also affirms the ministry will make sure that the oversea election is fair and transparent. Mr Piriya says further that the general election at the end of the year is crucial for bringing the country back to democracy and calls on Thai people to come out and vote.
