September 30, 200718 yr Can anybody please tell me if there is anything in a Thai number plate that reflects the cars registration date(year) such as in the UK?Many thanks. Not only is there nothing on the number plate to show the age of the vehicle, there's nothing on the log book (tabien rot) either, unless the car was built in Thailand and happened to be bought in the same year. Or imported freshly built and bought in the same year. The date on the tabien is the first date of registration or importation, NOT the date of manufacture. A chum recently bought an old classic which the vendor thought was a 1966 car because that was the date on the tabien. Research on websites shows it was built a full 10 years earlier. He's delighted. But I suppose that in other circumstances, other new owners may be less so........?!
