As a new feller in town i'm really struglin to find a decent few bars and clubs to go too , i have been in samui for the last few years and seems to be a different scene down there , with lots of cool bars and clubs playin good tunes ,not this rubbish in Pattaya they try and pass of as R&B and Hip Hop , i am sure there must be some places to go here , if you know Samui i'm talking about bars like Bar Solo and Q bar and Sound pub and Arc bar , i was in Marine 1 last week which wasn't bad but was hard to take it serious with a 85 year old farang dressed in German Umpar band gear raving his bits of on the main stage , the only other bar i have found with a decent DJ who actually knew what he was doing was up by the frozen Vodka bar upstairs by Happy A GO GO in walking street .

Please and ravers out there save me from this Hip Hop beer garden bar hel_l !!!!! Any suggestions will be gladly hunted down and severally tried out !!! If my missus dragges me into Luccifer one more time and i have to listen to the same for 4 songs again all night i swear i'm on the 1st plane back to Samui !!!!!

If you would like to get together with other Thai Visa Members living in Pattaya watch the TV Friday nights out thread and follow us on our Fridays, and next month looks like on Wednesday courtesy of humphry Bear. We always meet some where at 7PM.

Casino Club, Soi Diamond, Hammer Disco (Walking, but usually not so crowded), Mixx Discotheque at Bali Hai Pier, Insomnia Club at Marine Plaza......enough choices

It's all different horses for different courses.

You may find the Disco's are more your type of music than many of the bars.

If you go round enough bars you will surely find something to suit your tastes, but it may take time. Lot's of old farts in Patters - the bars cater to them. None in Thai Visa, of course. :o

Nice one ,thanks for the pointers , Is Mixx the one with 2 floors , sure i heard it being advertised the other day , some pickup was screamin Hip Hop ( or the 4 songs they class as hip hop here ) on the ground floor and house music upstairs , that would be pervect for me if could manage to loose the missus in the ground floor ( hip hop fan ) :o

He He i had noticed the slight age diff in the revellers from here to Samui , last week in Marine 1 was my 1st night out back in pattaya for a while and seeing the 85 year old geezer givin it his all on the main stage did throw me into a bit of a panic hilarious as it was . Good thing about it all is back on my little island in the uk i felt old , here i feel like a 18 year old again , so really i shouldn'd be complainin :D Anyway thanks for the reply and your right , will just have to get out on it more and see whats about . :D

We usually meet at Tropical berts soi 6/1. Usually we bring our wives and they usually chat together. Tropical berts has great food and drink.

Hi,

Mixx is a complex with 2 discotheques, one hip hop (which i do not like!) and one House/Dance/Electro/Techno, which I like! Been there only 1 time, good music, but right after opening still unknown to many. Time to check it out again!

Cheers

I can sympathize with your plight. OK, it's not as serious as people in Darfur trying to get something to eat, but clearly it is troubling you enough to post something about it on this message board.

First, I would like to apologize, on behalf of all Pattaya bar-owners, that we have no "cool" bars here, and we have a lot of 85 year old Germans here that like to dance to uncool music.

I would suggest you go to Tukcom, on the 4th floor, and buy some cheap cd's labeled "TRANCE" music. Then make up your own cd of like 20 songs, make copies, and hand it out to all the uncool bars, and tell them that this is what they should be playing. Tell them they've got it all wrong, and they are clueless about what music is really "cool", and you know, cause you've been to (Koh) Samui.

I suppose the other thing you could do is try to get yourself hired as some sort of a "consultant" by bars here, telling them that YOU know what the old Germans want to listen and dance to, and you could then advise them about the latest "TRANCE" music. Personally, I'm a big fan of the Jonas Brothers... see if you can get someone to play that, and I'll go for a brewski.

How do you know he was 85 years old? :o

Mixx and Slim are probably what you are looking for. Slim is on 2nd road just after soi 6. They have 2 rooms in there also. Probably the 2 most expensive joints in town, they seem to think the younger generation has more disposable cash than the 85 year old Germans
