Visa Runs From Patong

My non immigrant O visa (Ed) is due to expire in about 2 weeks, so I need to do a visa run to qualify for a further 90 days (I'm told this is ok). Has anyone done the Ranong minibus route, and if so, what's the best company to use? Is it as horrific as it sounds? The other option is to fly to KL or somewhere, but I'm conscious of cash.

I'm also slightly nervous about this - is it guaranteed that I'll get another 90 days, despite my year being up just a couple of days before i go? Will I be required to show any documentation, spare photos, offer proof of funds etc? Will I need to show evidence of onward journey (which I don't have) etc?

Cheers

You shouldn't have any problems getting another 3 Months if the years visa not finished.

Up to you which tour group you go as they are all pretty tough on the old back. I gave up the mini-bus runs and started to drive myself, not that much more expensive and even cheaper if you want to share with a couple of mates. By driving myself I leave Phuket early, 5:00 thereby missing all the traffic and early school bus runs etc.

it can be done in one day. rent my scooter and GPS for 800 THB so you can stop and smell the roses. GPS will take you to the front door of Ranong Immigation, and back to HKT without the need of a map. Stop and see this beautiful country. They have tons of waterfalls and such. Mini bus should be discouraged at all costs. All I ask is that you come to rawai and eat cajun food when we open.

Scooter is Honda Silverwing 600 Touring Model. Full Insurance.

I recommend The Andaman Club.

Just drive to the pier in Ranong get the boat to the hotel and stay overnight.

If you're lucky you can win the cost of the trip in the hotel casino. If you're not a gambler it doesn't cost a fortune just to stay there and relax for a while.

Agree with Bill Stickers

just returned this week from Club Andaman. Had a nice stay there and took a relaxing drive back rather than do the entire trip in 1 day. Presently the accommodation inc breakfast costs 1500 baht per day.
