NHSO increases medical capitation to 12 baht per head next year

The National Health Security Committee approves the 2008 medical capitation budget which increases the capitation for emergency medical services to 12 baht per head. The committee also includes the Thai traditional medicine in the health security package next year.

Secretary-General of the National Health Security Office (NHSO), Md. Sughuan Nittayarampong (สงวน นิตยารัมภ์พงศ์) reveals that next year’s capitation for those in the universal health security scheme is 2,100 baht per head, increased by about 200 baht per head per month. In addition, NHSO has allocated budget for the Thai traditional medicine. The capitation for the Thai traditional medicine is 1 baht per head, totaling more than 46 million baht.

NHSO has also prepared more than one billion baht to improve medical services.

The secretary-general says NHSO’s capitation project is aimed at granting access to necessary medical services for people and alleviating financial burdens of health stations.

He expresses his confidence that the increased capitation will benefit the management of the health stations and encourages them to visit NHSO’s website at www.hnso.go.th to learn about the amount of budget allocated for each of them.
