Stolen Visa Pictures And Papers With My Name And Address

Featured Replies

The other day I noticed my extra visa pictures as well as a couple different documents with my name and address on them were stolen out of my suit case. Could somebody who is Thai do something with these to harm me/impede me? I honestly can't think of a situation where someone could hurt me with these, but I am looking for second opinions. Also, should I report this to the consulate to cover my ass? Or is this way too far fetched that it's possibly any damage could be done? Thanks in advance, Damian

if it was just your name and address then what is the worry? that information is freely given out all the time. if there is other info such as passport numbers, credit card or bank details, and other information that should be kept private then you may want to be careful. With certain personal information your identity can be stolen and used to obtain credit cards in your name. Then you might get stuck with a large debt. I'm not sure what they would do with your picture though.

I guess I'm concerned I'll get blamed for something I didn't do. I'm naturally paranoid about this stuff, as in my youth I did plenty to be blamed for and paid the price. I just can't see why someone would take them. On 2nd thought they probably had no clue what they were taking. There weren't any social security numbers or anything. Just name/address and the pics.

Laughing (genuine)... Thanks man.

Address and portraits, hmm....You haven't got enemies/competitors that would hire a hitman - do you?

couple different documents with my name and address on them

If they are utiltiy bills amd i was a bad guy I could do the following:

Apply for credit cards in your name

apply for a phone line and adsl servcie - does not need to be installed at you home

Once I had the internet connection in your name i could do all sorts of naughty stiff online

I can get your birth certificates

I can apply for a replacement drivers license

I could even using your photos and report your passport lost and get a replacement - although this may be harder now, unless you are canadian.

I could get your credit file

But all of this would be sent to your home adrees where you could intercept it - oh hold oin your in thailand!

Of course this only works if do not live in thailand full time.

disclaimer - id never do any of the above

Do you have any idea when/where they were taken ?

The Dude thinks you have nothing to worry about, dude

I stole your photos. Don't worry, I think you are a hansum man and will never harm you. I have created a little shrine with them and light a candle every night.
