Best Way To Trat From Korat

Featured Replies

Driving to Koh Chang from Udon for the school holidays. Which would be the best way south of Korat.

1. 304 to 33; 33 to Sa Kaeo; 317 south to Chanthaburi.

2. 304 to 331; 331 to 344; 344 to 3; 3 to Chanthaburi.

Thanks in advance.

Option 2

Agree option 2 definately

good luck

Avoid the 317 to Chantaburi, no dual carriage way, except for some over taking lanes. Crazy local drivers who will overtake you at all costs etc.

I did it from my wife's village, some 50 km's east of Kabin Buri down to Koh Chang in early June. Not sure if martial law was still in place then as we had to negotiate at least 4/5 army/police check points.

As we have Petchabun plates on my pickup we were pulled up for a little chat twice on the way down there.

Though the scenery on the 317 is impressive, nice countryside.

Ah, option #2, the 304 & 331 portions, built (well, rebuilt) by the U.S. Army 809th Engr Bn starting in 1963 through 1968, and of course upgraded by others since then.
