I have some citrus related item that I want to mail to people in other countries as samples.

(sorry can't articulate, but it consists partially of dried peel)

I know that the US is very strict about not allowing any citrus items to be mailed there (due to worries of orchard diseases from SE Asia). However, I would like to know whether there are such restrictions from other countries, namely:

U.K. Scandinavian countries, Germany, France, Holland, Ireland, Switzerland.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are restrictions for warmer European countries such as Spain and Italy, but would still like to know.

Also, what about NZ and Australia and South Africa and Japan and Korea?

I could probably do searches on the internet, but it might take a long while, and my connections is very slow.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like it is OK to ship to Poland and France as long as it gets put into Vodka... in general any country that does not grow citrus should pose minimal problems..

Citrus Canker is the big problem in the USA -- but candied orange peel, marmalade, or otherwise processed peel is in fact imported into the USA. Peel in a natural state such is teas might be a problem. No shortage of peels though in Florida. And this pretty much goes for Australia, where only 'highly processed' peel is allowed to enter with no restrictions...

I once brought into USA some organic brown rice from Chiang Mai -- I declared it to the USDA inspectors, and they carefully removed the kefir lime leaf that was in the bag with a tweezers (I guess to repel bugs) and they then let me take the rice through... said the leaf could have canker.

'Couldn't find anything on can't articulate as a customs category...

thanks for the responses. As assumed, northern countries, which are less likely to grow citrus - would therefore be less likely to prohibit imports of products with dried citrus peel.

How about England, Germany, Holland and Scandinavia? .....or Japan?

BB -- phyto-sanitary for Japan is a nightmare -- the Satsuma Orange (mikan) is grown on the southern islands including Kyushu and they are very protectionist --

My stab at humor is that for many countries, the form (processed versus fresh or dried) of the peel affects the importation status and dried peel can still harbor citrus pathogens as with the kefir lime leaf mentioned before
