October 8, 200718 yr everyone talks about the men with no money over 50 trying to stay here on a shoe string budget and this is probably the reason for all the new rules. well about those of us that are under 50 (i happen to be 45) and have money. I make my living off of stocks and bonds in canada. I pay taxes there. I do not work in thailand. only bring money in from canada. I have no problem putting any amount of money (within reason) into a thai bank. already have 15 million in this country. now how do i get a visa???? any ideas????
October 8, 200718 yr The Dude cannot dig that all you will hear in this forum will be the same old rehash of the following: 1. Start a cash losing biz and get a non-b 2. go to school and grab an ED visa 3. get married and get a non o 4. go to a consulsate in bum###### thousands of miles away and try for a non-o for visiting "friends" 5. get married (ouch) 6. get a job, get working papers and then a non-b 7. plow 40 million baht into an acct and get an investment visa The Dude's opinion? These are not options for many dude's, not diggable in other words so The Dude says deep six these ideas. Sadly The Dude nor anyone else has the solution for your situation and he sympathizes. No shovels to be handed out to dig any or all of this. Dig?
October 8, 200718 yr Hi Wanderluster, If you search on this forum, you will see that our category of people (under 50 yo, not married, not working, money) has been forgotten in new rules From the Thai point of view, it seems that if you are under 50 yo you must yet work... They do not know about early retirement or "internet millionaires". You had before the solution of repeat Tourist Visa, but Penang actuality remind us that it will soon be a dead solution. You can think about the "Elite Visa", if for you 1 million bahts is a small thing, and after you search Elite on this forum... Your best solution actually seems to get a Multiple Non-Immigrant "O" or "B" visa from a friendly consulate. You can too create your own company so you can get a work permit and then a B visa Pattaya46 PS: From what you say here, you are working in Thailand (managing your stocks and bonds) and so you should have a WP and pay taxe in Thailand... For details see : Internet Business, Need Workpermit?

Go see the Thailand Elite people - you get a 5 year renewable visa and other 'perks' for 1m baht. Not 'cheap', but small change for anyone liquid, as you sound to be. Good luck!
