I’m considering taking a long (1-2 year) vacation in Thailand. However, I do need a Internet connection available from day one in order to manage my investments abroad. Using a internet cafe is not an option, I must to be able to connect at night time as well.

Is it possible to sign up for a reliable GPRS system and use this with my laptop and/or mobile phone? How long do that process take? Can I sign up and be ready to use it the same day? How much does it cost? Do I need a work permit in order to sign up for GPRS?

Any help would be most welcome and appreciated!
