BANGKOK, Aug. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- A strong fire erupted early Sunday in a densely-populated residential area near a shopping center in Bangkok, capital of Thailand, injuring two people and destroying more than 10 wooden buildings.

The incident took place at around 5:00 a.m. Sunday. About a dozen fire engines rushing to the scene could not easily access to the building due to a narrow passage.

The traffic radio said that two people were injured in the fire and more than 10 wooden buildings were badly damaged. The rest of the residents escaped the violent fire.

Earlier reports said more than 40 wooden buildings had been flattened by the blaze.

The fire has been put under control, but its cause was not immediately known.
