Maestro
Get a tourist visa valid for one entry. Upon entry into Thailand you will receive permission to stay for 60 days. Before these 60 days are over, go to any immigration office in Thailand and apply for an extension of stay by 30 days, fee 1,900 Baht. Take 2 passport photos with you, photocopy of your passport and arrival/departure card. This will cover your 9 weeks without having to leave Thailand. -- Maestro

Maestro
The problem, you see, is that the date of your return flight won’t be within 30 days from your arrival in Thailand. At check-in in the UK, the airline may not like this and refuse you to board. It’s their computers that tell them to stop you. Most airlines use the database of Delta Airlines. -- Maestro
