Just a thought I had but could there be a system where forum members could also rate the individual replies to a topic.. rather than just being able to rate the topic starter?

I really hate that topic rating system. Rarely is it an indication of how good or bad a topic is. Just clutters up the pages IMO.

It's crap innit.. I've never understood it, when you see a post that has been given just 1 star what is that supposed to mean at all?!

When a member rates a post 1 star, are they saying the topic is a bunch of <deleted> or it's ok and worthy of a gold star????

I agree. Pointless - or worse.

I note that someone has been at the gym pumping irony (the thread has attracted a couple of gold stars.)
