to win they should have WON the votes.

now it looks like they try to do the same as Thaksin - buy them, even if only by promises. :o

Sweet election pledges for Isaan

Published on October 14, 2007

Promises include land giveaways, debt write-offs, economic zones.

The Democrat Party yesterday launched a major pre-election offensive in the North-east, its weakest area, with pledges to give away farm and, forgive debts and grant special economic privileges.

If the party forms the next government it will write off loans extended to villagers by the state, Jurin said.

He was referring to the Bt77-billion village-fund scheme used by the former Thaksin government to woo rural constituents. [oops - did I read it correctly - Thaksin?]

Abhisit said he and his party had to earn each vote the hard way, unlike "someone who can buy his way into power".

well, that's the truth - they MUST have worked harder, or at least worked at all in previous elections, to win the country side people. to make a lame excuses that someone was buying votes - is not an excuse at all.

anyway, Surayudh already has "announced" the outcome of elections: "Coaltion will win..."

so, Abhisit and Co remain just a bunch of guys with empty talks, nothing more.
