The new Singapore Airlines A380 ....

New and improved economy seats are more spacious than those in the airline's 747 fleet and come with what are claimed to be the biggest personal TV sets of any economy class cabin. There's also an in-seat power supply, a storage space for those bits and pieces you normally lose down the side of the seat and a personal power supply and USB port for the technologically-inclined.

In Business Class you'll be treated to a spacious seat that transforms into a fully flat bed from which you can watch your 15.4 inch TV and enjoy the Givenchy-designed bedding and crockery.

Every seat has direct access to the aisle, so no need to clamber over a snoring co-passenger when you set off to raid some snacks from the kitchen during night flights.

The personal suites are where things get really lavish. The 787 is so enormous that airlines have a whole new opportunity to create luxury features that just couldn't be squeezed into an old-style aircraft.

In the case of Singapore Airlines, not only do you get a huge leather seat that can be adjusted endlessly depending on your preferred lounging posture, but when you're ready to retire the cabin crew will step in, flip some of the furniture around and transform it into a full-size bed. Watching TV in bed is a good option since the personal LCD screens are a whopping 23-inches, with hundreds of movies, games and CDs to enjoy on demand...

If you need to have a working lunch with a colleague that's fine - there's a chaise longue for another passenger to perch on and a spacious table for that laptop.
