acerhodes
I have been slaving over VAF2 over the last few week worried that I may not get it right when I suddenly notice new forms are needed after 29th October. I fly to BKK on 2nd November & I have not been able to view or download the new forms. I intend to marry probably on the 6th & then apply for Settlement for my Thai wife. I just about have everthing done following guidance from this forum. Does anybody know if its just a form change or are any of the rules etc changing as well? I have had a VV refused already for my then Thai girlfriend & I cannot bear another refusal.

the scouser
I think you were right the first time: it will have been a VAF2 you were slaving over. The new form is a VAF4. The embassy website appears to be working, but try this link to the VAF4. Scouse.

Richard W
See also Application forms There is some alarming guidance for VAF4! It's shocking to see how many of us Britons are terrorists! From the guide for questions 5.11 and 5.12: A. Terrorist activities Any act committed, or the threat of action, designed to influence a government or intimidate the public and made for the purpose of advancing a political, religious or ideological cause and that involves serious violence against a person;... B. Organisations concerned in terrorism An organisation is concerned in terrorism if it: ... b. prepares for terrorism c. promotes or encourages terrorism (including the unlawful gloritifcation of terrorism), or... ... Did not the UK government encourage the overthrow of Saddam Hussein? Then Q5.11 of VAF4 reads, 'Have you ever been involved in, supported, or encouraged terrorist activities in any country? Have you, ever been a member of, or given support to an organisation that has been concerned in terrorism? Refer to the Guidance notes for definitions.' Doesn't this make terrorists of those who work for or supply specialist services to HMG? Is Q5.13 new? I'm surprised to see that Thais are required to record their gambling and riding of motorbikes without helmets. I presume the dropping of litter is also included. Does this mean that Thais not admitting to littering may be denied visas because they have, on the balance of properties, knowingly concealed information on the application form? (I would hope De minimis lex non curat applies, but there have been some odd judgements.)
teacher
Thats amazing its a link to the new form ...this is not on the Visa site yet. There is a reference to new guidance notes...........do you have a link for them also? Many many thanks www.ukvisas.gov.uk They are here all the new forms and guidence notes. VAF_4 Is the form for a settlement and is very much more indepth, including more about the sponsor, his earnings and outgoings, has he sponsored anyone previously within the last two years etc. Asking Thais if they have any convictions or any pending including motor offences?????? i think i think there are 21 pages and it is very much like the Australian forms. I can help you to complete if you pm me.
Richard W
Asking Thais if they have any convictions or any pending including motor offences?????? Don't forget that 5.13 will normally require, 'Have ridden a motorbike without wearing a crash helmet'. Young born and bred Bangkokians might be an exception, but I doubt it. Is an offence for which one paid an on the spot fine to be counted as a conviction or as another illegal act (5.13)? In the latter case I suppose paying the fine on the spot should also be recorded - isn't that illegal?
AZZZEY68
On the guidance they want evidence of total income per month after tax well if your self emoloyed and a new company how do you do that ???
chaiyapoon
Get a letter from your accountant stating your likely income.
the scouser
I would hope De minimis lex non curat applies... Do you think half-inching a sponge-based dessert containing cream, jam and sherry would be considered a trifling offence? Scouse.
AZZZEY68
Get a letter from your accountant stating your likely income. You think thats the answer if you have only been trading 6 months and have no accountant.I thought maybe a covering letter explaining your dilemma would cover it explaining your first end of year is April 2008 would suffice. chaiyapoon
I have been trading for 9 months and had an accountant from day one.Though we got a refusal on our first application they stated they were happy that I could accommodate and maintain her so the letter must have worked.
