nu_trip
Dear Sir, I am an Indonesian, 32 years old and have been studying at a leading gemological institute in Bangkok, since 28 June 2003 until the graduation day on 28 November, 2003. I have non-immigration visa type ED and its valid until the end of August (90 days). Now that I need a friend to accompany me during my stay here, my wife and my 3 year-old daughter will come to Bangkok by theirselves. They do already have passport and have got tourism visa from Thai Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia. It must be valid for 60 days only, I think. Since we don’t have plan to go to another country outside the Kingdom of Thailand and just stay in Bangkok until November, I have some questions : 1. Can I extend my non-immigrant visa type ED in the Immigration Bureau in Thailand ? If so, what are the requirements do you need? 2. How long can Immigration Bureau give me days to stay longer here? 3. Can I extend my wife’s and my daughter’s tourism visa here, without going out of the country? We do not have plan to go anywhere out of Thailand, either. 4. Can they give them at least another 3 months stay? Do I need to enclose a recommendation letter from my campus in this case? 5. Do they need round-trip tickets to enter Thailand from Indonesia? Thank you for answering my questions. Sincerely,
Roger13
I am an Indonesian, 32 years old and have been studying at a leading gemological institute in Bangkok, since 28 June 2003 until the graduation day on 28 November, 2003. I have non-immigration visa type ED and its valid until the end of August (90 days). Hi nu_trip I am not sure of the answers to your questions. Could you Clarify what dates are in the Rubber Stamp impression that The Airport Immigration stamped in your Passport please? The second /lower date - "Admitted Until" is now the Expiry of your STAY. Please tell us what it is. [You say that your ED Visa expires end of August - is this the date on the Visa Sticker ? - if so that is the date before which you had to ENTER Thailand. (The Expiry Date on the Sticker is the Expiry of the Validity of the Visa - that is the date before which you have to USE it - NOT the date you have to leave Thailand by)] Your Families Tourist Visa are valid for ENTRY within 90 days for a STAY in Thailand of 60 days. I don't know if there are any concessions for extensions for Family Members of a ED Visa holder. Does Anybody know? Roger
nu_trip
The Thai Embassy in Indonesia issued my VISA valid until 7 August 2003, and the immigration stamped 29 August 2003 as the limit to stay. I arrived here on 27 June, 2003.
Roger13
Hi nu_trip, I do NOT have previous experience of ED Visas So I hope that someone who has will also respond. Until then - in my Opinion - you should have been given 90 days STAY from your date of arrival. I think they made a mistake at the Airport - you should have been Admitted to stay until end of September. Anyway as your course ends end of November you need an extension anyway. Surely your College / University must have experience of helping their Foreign Students to do this - have you contacted your Admin Office? dr_Pat_Pong
Get a letter from your Institute to your wife and have her apply for a non immigrant O for herself and your daughter that will enable them to stay for 90 days. You can go to Immigration in Soi Suan Plu and discuss an extension. It will help if your school sends someone with you. It seems that the school didn't advise you vey well. They should be well aware of immigration requirements for foreign students
