What Visa Is Best?

Featured Replies

I really don't know much about the different types of visas and how each one works. All I have ever needed or got was Single entry Tourist visa. I need help knowing what visa would be best for me to get for my next trip to Thailand coming up in December. All the forms i have read so far seem to have couples already married.

My girlfriend (a Thai citizen) and I (a Canadian Citizen) plan on getting married in January or February of the up coming year in Thailand. We would both like to stay in Thailand for a while after we get married. I will be flying out of Toronto the first week in December. What Visa should I get before i go. Do I go for a tourist visa to start then after we get married leave and apply for a Non-O? Or what are all my options.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. (I hope this all makes sense) :o

mranderson.

A single entry tourist visa will cover first 60 days and you can extend that 30 days (or 60 days if already married). If you need more time a trip to a Consulate to obtain a non immigrant O visa after marriage could be made.

Thanks, Thats what I thought. I just wanted to make sure I didn't need another type of visa to get married in Thailand, or maybe there were a few options i could have picked. We did plan on staying there for a possible year. She has some family issues to deal with.

Thanks again!
