Has anyone had recent success in applying for the Non Imm o Marriage visa in Singapore (ie within the last month)?

I do not work in Thailand, however I am married to a Thai and we have one child. Can anyone advise whether my best option is to apply for the visa based on 'visiting' or 'financially supporting?

Thanks in advance.

(I have searched for this info however the relevant threads are over 1 year old and no one has posted a conclusion to the original quiestions!) :o

Thanks for all the advice. :o

I think your best bet would be to contact the Royal Thai Consulate in Singapore and ask them directly. They are willing to help on the phone and I'm sure they can answer your questions.

I have this number for them saved in my address book, not sure if it's still current but here it is : +65-67-372644

I did phone the Singapore Thai embassy about 2 months ago as I had a Non-immigrant VISA that expired on the 5th October. The information they gave me was I could only apply for a new non-immigrant after the current one had expired, I must show a copy of my marriage certificate (the wife did not need to be present) and proof of money (bank statement) of more then 400 000k THB or eqv. in a Thai or non Thai bank. The old issue of wages of more then 40k a month was not valid anymore. Before the non-immigrant VISA was free of charge now it cost 220SGD.

Note; this phone call was 2 months ago and I am due to travel to Singapore shortly to apply so anybody who can give a more recent experience sharing is mostly welcome.

Keep this tread alive until somebody (or myself) can finaly give an recent update on Singapore!

Threads don't die. There was never a 40k income requirement for visa issue - that is a requirement for immigration extension of stay inside Thailand. Singapore started a system to issue multi entry visas this year and for that the marriage plus a bank account somewhere of 400k or more has been the requirement. Have not seen any recent report.

Just got back. Marriage Cert / Wife's ID / $400k in any bank is what is required.

NB bank statement must be dated same month as application. I lost a whole day because of that. <deleted>*k.

Thanks for the last bit of advice - will be renewing my multi 'O' next week but will have to use a Singapore bank statement in that case as haven't been to Bangkok since last month ...

I am not sure what nationality you are. If you are British, it is very easy to get a Non Imm O Visa by post from one of the Thai consulates in the UK. No financial documents required.

Regarding the bank statment, is it ok to go online and print off a copy, or has the statment got to be issued direct from the bank.

*Bump* ... anyone know the answer to this?

As that is currently the only type of statement many of us have I would think so. Just be sure it is a current statement (within a month).

Thanks - I shall give it a go with an online Thai statement but take a recent Singapore 'postal' statement too (not sure how you call those) - will post on here as to how I get on

It looks as though Penang may be a better place to go.

Except the RTE Singapore is right next door to my office :o

Agree Penang sounds a better bet for those having to journey out of Thailand to renew their visas though ...

Went to the RTE Singapore this morning (Friday) at 10.45 am ... only had to wait 15 minutes or so before my application was processed ... guess it's quiet on Fridays as you can't get your PP back until Monday so it won't suit those who don't fancy a weekend in Singapore

Application for 12mth, multi entry accepted on basis of:

1. completed form with one photo and my Singapore business card attached

2. copy marriage certificate

3. copy wife's Thai ID card

4. internet bank statement from my Thai account showing >400k THB and dated yesterday (took a copy of Sing full bank statement too but wasn't asked for, so guess internet is OK)

2, 3 & 4 were all signed & dated by my wife and I yesterday

Fee is S$220 which is unchanged from last year. Visa application times have been reduced to 09.15 - 11.30 hours. Singaporean Malay lady at the counter was polite and cheerful with me just like she was last year.

Collect PP on Monday afternoon after 2.00pm.

I noted that visa applicants from India, Pakistan or Bangladesh have to complete 2 application forms and provide 2 photos ... reasons unspecified.

Hope this is helpful.
