I had a single entry Tourist Visa issued at the Thai Embassy in New York. The embassy folks told me that it guarantees me a 60 day stay in Thailand. When I arrived in Bangkok, the immigration officer issued me a 30 day stay because I have a Nigerian Passport despite the fact that I have an American permanent residence card. I am scheduled to leave Thailand in 3 months. What do I do to extend my visa for another 60 days?

Thanks

Sorry - reworded and and did not complete edit. Believe you can extend 30 days only.

'Do not believe you can extend your stay more than 30 days - 60 days total.'

No. Not sure how easy it is to obtain a new tourist visa in Malaysia or Laos but you might check on that - but be sure they know it is for your Nigerian passport.

If You have tourist 30-day visa you can extend it 30+30 (90 days in total)I have the same situation and have done it many times before at Phuket immigration.

Hey Andzi4. So do I wait till close to the expiration of stay to go to Phuket? Then they will grant me another 30 days? Then I go back for another extension? How have you done it in the past?

Well,I do not know how this works with other immigration offices, however in Phuket there is no problem what so ever to get two extensions on 30 days tourist visa(I am doing this for the last year) You have to extend it just before expiration of the visa . It seems to me the best advice in your situation would be if you can contact the nearest immigration office and ask how many you allowed .Certainly you can get the first extension at any immig. office and if they refuse you with the second one you can always come over here and get it without any hassle.

Thanks Andzi4. I am already in Phuket. I'll be staying here for just under 3 months. This is great news. I will definately be visiting the immigration office in Phuket then. Thank you very much for all your help.
