November 4, 200718 yr Hi all, My Fiancee is a thai passport holder and has indefinate leave to remain in the uk....... Does she require a visa for the EU or can she travel around the EU as if she held a British passport. If i wanted to take her to Europe how difficult is it to obtain a visa if required and how long does it take.

Needs a visa, I am afraid, right up until she gets Brit Cit. If i wanted to take her to Europe how difficult is it to obtain a visa if required and how long does it take. Depends where you are going, if to the Republic of Ireland, I found it easy, but then I am a dual national, as for others, no idea, but I guess a similar process as coming here. If going to several countries check out the Schengen visa, but remember not all Euro countries are part of it, inc ROI and the UK, you will only need one visa main visa, the main destination of your travels. Ability to fund trip, Reason for visit, Reason to return, Invitation to come, if seeing Relatives or Friends, No recourse to public funds etc Good Luck Moss
November 4, 200718 yr If she holds an ordinary Thai passport with an ILR, then flying to/from Switzerland is possible. If she holds a diplomatic or official/service Thai passport then she may be exempt from some European countries' visa requirements. See also IATA's Visa & Passport Information database.
