Today I got my one year extension for my retirement visa. I used the Chiang Khan immigration office as usual. The last two times he complained about my income statement from the US Embassy, so this time I transferred 800,000 baht to my Thai bank account. I put all my paperwork and copies in front of the immigration officer and after he looked at the bank letter he wanted to know why there was no bank activity for a three month period. (??) I was quite uncomfortable and the officer was far from friendly. This is the first time I felt unwelcome in the Kingdom's immigration offices. THEN, he asked for the doctor's statement. I did have one but did not have the mandatory two copies. I had to go get the copies made for a paper that as far as I know is only required at Chiang Khan. There was no mention of a map to my home or any bank card requirements.

I'm going to go to Tha Li for my next 90 day address verification and find out if I can do the next extension there rather than Chiang Khan. Rules are rules and I have no problem with that, BUT, it would certainly make sense to have the same rules and requirements everywhere. The government's left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing or they make up their own rules as they go along. I'm happy to have my year extension, but quite disgusted with the games they play.

Looks like this guy is just picking a fight Gary, any Idea why ?

Does it seem personal or does he seem to treat others the same way ?
