Jai Dee
Southern Thai Food Fair to help boost southern economy The Yala Governor, Mr. Thira Mintrasak (ธีระ มินทราศักดิ์), would like to invite people to visit the Southern Thai Food Fair. The event will be held to boost the economy in southern Thailand. Governor Thira together with the Director of Yala Rajabhat University, Assoc. Prof. Kraisorn Sritrairat (ธีระ มินทราศักดิ์), held a press conference today (November 16th) to promote the Southern Thai Food Fair scheduled to be held between November 22nd and 27th at Central Plaza in Bangkok. The fair is being jointly organized by the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Promotion Office and Rajabhat Universities in Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat provinces. The event is aimed at promoting local southern products and food items in order to spur the southern economy, which has been plagued by the ongoing insurgency. Mr. Thira says the southern unrest has been around for more than three years, and it has deterred the local economy extensively, adding that tourists have been more hesitant to travel to the region. Therefore, the Southern Food Fair will be organized to boost the regional economy and the confidence of investors.
