Bomb defused from bank in South

NARATHIWAT: -- A bomb planted in front of a commercial bank in the southern province of Narathiwat was successfully defused this morning.

Local police and bomb experts managed to defuse the bomb just minutes before it exploded, according to local journalists.

The five-kilogramme explosive was planted in front of the Thai Military Bank, Tak Bai Branch.

"If the bomb had exploded, the front door of the bank would have been badly damaged, and many people would have been injured", said the local police.

"Luckily, one of the bank's sfaff who came to work in the morning spotted the bomb in a suspected black bag, and reported to the police", they added.

An official investigation on the incident is on progress, according to the journalists.
