I have read a lot about rubber plantations in the South and in Isaan but have never found any information on growing rubber in the North. I am thinking about buying 100 rai (in my wife' name) in Kampaengphet. I am told rubber is starting to be developed there but haven't seen anything on these boards about it.

Does anybody know if there are any constraints to growing rubber trees in Kamphaengphet? It seems the soil and waterfall are at least as good as in Isaan so I can't see any problem but wonder if anybody out there in TV land has any input.

My plan would be to have my wife's local extended family get educated on the science of growing rubber trees and have them start planting, watering and fertilizing the land. It'll be 6 years before they start producing but I don't need the money now and even if I don't want to get into the business of harvesting the land, I could sell it at a huge premium to what I'm paying for the land. I'm going to pay between 10 and 15,000/rai and 6 years later, a mature rubber tree plantation should sell for 10 x that amount.

Also the land today is Sor Por Gor but the Ampur says this area will be upgraded to Chanote within 2 years. The area is being upgraded from countryside to Tesagan. The road along side this 100 rai is dirt but will be paved next year. There is water on the land so I will be able to provide water year round to the trees.

I really know nothing about growing rubber other than what I've read on TV and the links to rubber web sites that I've found in the threads.

If anybody has any thougths on growing rubber in Kamphaengphet or otherwise on my plans, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks........

There are several threads in the Farming forum discussing rubber.

Hmmmm.... That wasn't a very useful response.

But this is TV, have to take the good with the bad.

I'll revise my wording. I have read a lot about rubber farming "edit* in the TV forums" and haven't found any info on rubber in the north and specifically Kampaengphet.

I searched through the farming forum and the South forum because there are rubber threads there too. I mean to put my post in the farming forum but boo boo'd and submitted my post when I was still in the South forum.

Maybe a mod can move this thread to the farming forum.

I also know nothing about growing rubber but do live in KPP and there are plenty of people planting the trees. My wife says there are trees in Kanu, Sai Ngam, Pran Kratai, and Klong Mot Daeng. At those land prices I guess your going to do this in the mountains around Amphur Klong Lan. I'd check out existing farms in your area and make sure that well has water year round.
