Simple Pleasures

I spent a pleasant 40 minutes or so just sat, watching this lizard as he strolled around outside the house and gave me plenty of time to get the camcorder out and film him.

A simple pleasure, but one I feel is often overlooked with the hustle and bustle of life.

Makes one glad to be able to watch such creatures and just another aspect of this beautiful country :o

Simple pleasures indeed. I too enjoy watching the tiny creatures that inhabit our garden. This poet put it best I think:

W. H. Davies

Leisure

WHAT is this life if, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare?—

No time to stand beneath the boughs,

And stare as long as sheep and cows:

No time to see, when woods we pass,

Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:

No time to see, in broad daylight,

Streams full of stars, like skies at night:

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,

And watch her feet, how they can dance:

No time to wait till her mouth can

Enrich that smile her eyes began?

A poor life this if, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.

So very, VERY, aptly put. Thanks for that, is something I had forgotten.

So many complaints about this beautiful country, I sincerely think people forget these simple pleasures.

Thanks also for the other replies. It is nice to know other people still share in these little things (creatures that we share this world with).

Life - to me - would be so sad without them.

To sit and watch Ing Hoi, butterflies, lizards and other small creatures can be a pleasant experience and I, for one, am grateful to be given these 'simple' pleasures in life.

No time to stop and smell the roses? I put the blame solely on the microwave generation...everything has to be done in 60 seconds or less. Pity. :o
