November 26, 200718 yr We have a couple of 1 year old Toms, brothers. Yesterday I caught one of them scent marking in the house. Actually right in front of my face. He jumped up on my computer desk, which didn't worry me as he likes to kip on the monitor. Instead he turned to face me and marked the wall. Is neutering the only way to stop this? Down here spaying costs about 600 Baht. How much does neutering Toms cost? Edited November 26, 200718 yr by Mosha
November 26, 200718 yr It is free, do what is called 'gumbooting', jam him head down in a gumboot (wellie to those who know), a quick snip with the scissors and the job is done!!
November 26, 200718 yr you have to neuter him as soon as his sex hormones start kicking in - about 1 year. Would prevent from vicious fighting as well as impregnating all the cats around. Because it's a simpler operation than spaying it's cheaper as well.

November 26, 200718 yr Author Lots of resistance from the boss, I think she would rather have me neutered. Looks like a trip into the vets on my own this evening.

Maybe if you explain to her the health risks of an unneutered cat, she'll is more willing to have the operation done (there are several threads with good info on this forum). Plus, if she talks to the vet about how simple actually such an operation is for male cats, she might have less problems with it. Nienke
November 26, 200718 yr Author Oh I've tried that route believe me, she would rather abandon the cats down at the Wat. That is never going to happen on my watch. Luckily the vet has some English, so we muddle through with Thaiglish and hand signals.
