New Passport

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Here is my situation. I have just last week picked up my new passport from British Embassy. Now, I had a Non Imm type O multiple entry in my old passport but it had just run out in October which means I am on my last Ninety day stay which was started just before my visa ran out. Do I need to visit Immigration to obtain a stamp for my ninety days or will it be OK to turn up at the airport with my old passport to show the stamp along with my new passport?

Thanks

Leeroy, I think you need to go to Suan Phlu to get the last stamp transferred.

Surprised your embassy didn't give you an outline of what to do here. I don't

think it can be done at the airport and I sure wouldn't wait until my flight date. :o

Go to your local immigration office, it does not have to be the Head Office at Suan Plu,

and ask them to transfer the current entry stamp to your new passport.

It is a simple and free service.

Last time I renewed my UK Passport here in Thailand (2004), the corners of the pages with valid entry stamps and visas were folded in so that when the corner of the passport was clipped off, these pages remained valid in the old passport.

Just had to show both passports at Thai Immigration, the new exit stamp had a hand written reference to the entry stamp in my previous passport. When I re-entered there were also no problems using the (still valid in my case) Non Immigrant Visa from my old passport.

Just a want to ask a related question: Is the Re-entry (multiple) permit stamp from old past passport transferable (and still valid) to new passport?

Theres a recent topic about this, some guy went to immigration to transfer his stamp and it used 3 pages, naturally he was pissed off.

It is an immigration stamp, as is the extension of stay, so it should be transferable. But can't remember what people have reported in the past.

When you have an extension transferred to a new passport, do you still need to carry the old passport that had the original visa?

Ok, have just been to Suan Pluu to get entry stamp transfered. It was indeed a quick and free service. Thanks for the replies people.

Leeroy.

No. Only if you had a multi entry visa and needed to return to using that for entry would both passports be required. Not when on an extension of stay or using a re-entry permit.
