I have heard that if you meet a thai lady from an agency and marry her the agency gets a share of the sin sod.Even more surprising if a farang meets a bar girl and marries her the bar owner will ask for a share of the sin sod .Has anyone any experience of this happening

I do know of one 'Farang' who arranges marriages and gets on average 50% of the sin sod but they are deals done 'on the side' without the husband knowing anything about money being handed over by the bride. Makes da_n good money out of it too. Lurks in certain forums and other places, plying his trade.

Bit of a bad topic with me and a close call for reasons to remain untold.

Just do not go with a woman asking Sin Sod , its not meant for the

family to keep in the first place ( should give it back to the couple ) , its a tradition now being misused .

Many Thais now , for this reason stay happily together and just do not marry .

If doing the family traditions come into play , which many city people I know try to avoid .

I am not so sure why so many 'farang ' are willing to do this , for me its just like buying a car

only marriage is supposed to not to sell it second hand ( after used and old )and buy a new one ........

Maybe some may say I do not understand the tradition , perhaps but I am not willing to ,

its like buying an object , which it is not .

Happy my Thai family does not follow any traditions , that's why maybe we never argue and

Don't confuse an 'agency' business with an independant agent or freelancer. Where does the fee come from? Eventually from the farang of course!!

Any BG is free to have a side deal with a bar owner, massage owner, or noodle shop owner......up to them. But as a matter of course normally if a BG snags a farang on her own she doesn't owe anybody anything. I know many farang who married BG and the owner of the bar she was taken from got SQUAT....except had to find another BG lol.

Friends of my Thai wife ask me to find them husbands and they will pay me if I find one. NO way I'll get involved in that.

I also know women who have been married before and who have children, who are demanding sin sot. Quite a sleezy business in my opinion.

Sleazy yes......that's why I politely decline when asked to be a 'matchmaker'. One Thai lady I know is in a bit of a bind. Her fee to the matchmaker of 150K baht has been unpaid for a long time and the pressure is being applied. She finally revealed to her farang husband the details and how she owes this money. The husband thinks the whole thing is being made up and he refuses to pay a single baht! To be continued...................

Well the funny thing is that I know an Indian guy , who's family is very well off .

He is born in Thailand , Thai national , even good looking I guess , in his mid thirties ,

and yes single . His mom wants 2 million sis sod Indian way , the woman he loves

or likes her parents want also a significant amount , which turned as an impossible

situation ( already a few years back ) .

I just remembered this situation and think it is so weird , the clash of cultures ,

which is so wonderful .

Maybe the farang should introduce Sin Sod also , because the woman will get done with their miserable lives .

I just think might be interesting how the reaction will be I give you 200k an your family give mine 2 mil ,

in the West everything is expensive , anyway just funny when thinking about it how the reactions

would be from the greedy ones only marrying for money .

Seriously do you think an introduction agency which charges upwards of 1000 pounds sterling (some do) deserves an extra bonus from the sin sod.

I know of farangs operating such services who actually use their Wife on the phone, pretending to be the girl in question - often with the girl sat in front of a web cam pretending to talk on a telephone. In the meantime the girl is hastily given English lessons - amazingly, when the farang finally arrives in Thailand they never seem to notice the difference. Marry is wording for couple sharing love and life togetther...and NOT a game to play..

The Sin Sod...just the things to keep the bride family happy...in the socially the bride family just wanna show that their new son hv ability to take care their doughther.That's it !

After the wedding ceremony pass.They will return all sin sod to you right a way ( you hv to talk with ur future wife straight ).This topic is so sensitive for ur both..for sure

In many cases this money is NOT returned to the couple. Often the reason the lady is marketed to a farang is because the family needs money and that is where a portion of his money will go, one way or another. If you expect a situation otherwise, you better discuss these issues carefully before the marriage. Many of these "dating sites" have women who are being "displayed" by matchmakers, because the women are not able to write or speak English and have no choice but to hire a "facilitator" for this. Many of the women may be fine and sincere, but may be manipulated by family and others as a conduit for obtaining money. They are obviously not all bar girls. I think it is wise to get a third and unbiased party (if you can find one) who can speak Thai and English, to sort out the various relationship issues.

Sin Sod is not about money but about principle! You're not Thai, so no part of their feudal cycle!

Can't own land, can't vote, the visa is year to year, dual pricing, etc...........

In a Thai-Foreign relationship, it's two cultures on one pillow. Seems that a lot of Thais find this very challenging.

If a agency gets 1000 pounds the man who pays will probably marry,and you 'r wite they have enough money.

If you look at farangs magazines you will see adverts for small agents no web site they have about 20 thirty ladies local and charge about 1000 bht an introduction.Most men who use them are not looking for a wife,just a cheap way to have a good time.Anyone who thinks in the rare case a woman finds a husband she doesn't give a cut of sin sod must be a dreamer
