I have 55GB of free space, or do I?

How can I transfer things to it, or can I?

Disk1_vol2(d:) is the second Prtition on the first harddisk and the driveletter should be D:

But may the Partition isn't formatted?! If not, you need to format the Partition. If you use XP, go to the Contol Panel, click on Administrative Tools and choos Diskmanagment. Here you need to look for Disk1_vol2(d:) and than you can choose to format. If there isn a Partition, you can create one and format!

Can you see drive D: in Windows Explorer?

If so just drag your music to the D: drive and they should get copied. Delete the originals when you've verified the copy has happened correctly :o

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

You can also use the Right bottum of your mouse!

Select the Files you want to copy or move by right click on the filename (for multiple files hold down the Crtl Key while right clicking), move you Mouse Cursor to the Drive D: and again right click in the free file area and selct Paste. All selected files should be copied or moved.

If you use Move, they wouldn't more on the old location!

Thanks all :o - Am I right in thinking that my computer has now 120 GBof memory rather than 60? Amazing. Is there anything I should be careful about in moving half my stuff? Also should my 'puter be a lot faster?

120GB is a standard size, 60 is not. Appears they (whoever set it up) created two partitions. Appears to be common with Thai technicians to setup more then one partition for some reason. Won't help speed up the computer though.

I'd leave your system and operating program files where they are, at least until you know more.

I have three partitions.

C: for Operating system files

D: for My Documents, entertainment, games, music, movies.

F: for downloaded applications/programs etc.. (adobe, winamp, Firefox, Thunderbird etc, etc...)
