Passport: Wrong Record

Featured Replies

The last time my son left the country, the immigration officer looked at my son's passport (Thai) for quite a while.

When we came back, the same happened and this time the officer was nice enough to show me what was the problem.

Apparently, the information from the passport office (where he was issued his passport), has been wrongly recorded for the family name.

Basically, they included in the family name, his first name (or his middle name).

While the officer told me it's not a big problem, as they could spot the mistake, I would rather have this corrected.

As any of you faced this problem, and if yes, how did you get it corrected?

The information on the passport is actually correct, only the electronic information seems wrong.

Thanks.

The translation of my partner's surname was different from that of her sister who she was going to see in Holland some 3 years ago. So what did they do ? changed the name in my partner's passport (western spelling) to match her sisters !

Minor problem. For me, it happened once years ago in Japan when I was young, very young and in my Thai passport they missed spelling last name so folks said they went to Thai Embassy and got it changed correctly. I would say if it happens here in Thailand, should you go to consulate near by and get it changed, yeah?
