Uk Govt Proposal - Language Test For Spouses

No Visitors visa but for those wishing to settle as spouse. This is being reported on the BBC World Service and Quoting the Home Secretary. It is proposing that the 47000 spouses entering the UK to settle each year should have to undergo and oral or written English test beffore geting a visa.

This will never fly though due to the Asian voste in the UK - too many marginal seats and Labour MP's in them.

Why not have a English improvement test - test them at Visa time then test them before ILR - not enough improvement you just keep getting 2 years and not ILR?

Too much admin and beauracracy for that as well - plus the amount of others taking tests for spouses would turn into an industry.

As I say it wil never fly but say if it did - which language testing Centres would get approved in Bangkok - this would be a farce.
