December 6, 200718 yr HI all Recently (noticed it on the home desktop about 3 weeks ago and then on my laptop about a week ago) switching tabs in Firefox has become painfully slow. I haven't added any extentions recently and have been using the same set I have been for about the last year and whereas switchin tabs used to be speedy now i clik on one and it's not instantainously swiched any more but can take from a few seceonds up to about 30sec?? what is happening? If i post my extention list will that help? has anyone else noticed a slow down?
December 6, 200718 yr I am using Firefox 3 bata 1 and no slowdown - instant change. But not using any add-ons.
December 6, 200718 yr I use both 2.0.11 and 3.0 Beta 1 and both are ok. On 2.0.11 I've a lot add ons and extensions but no slow down. May you should check about unwanted add ons or something like that and may clear the history and delete all temp files and cookies.

I could pair down some of the lesser used extentions and give them the boot. I run CCleaner aobut once a week. should I also use FireFoxes clear privite data tool also?

December 17, 200718 yr Author Paired down extentions and cleared data with Ccleaner and FF's clear private data and still slow tab switching. Particularry slow on sites like TV and Facebook. sometimes up to 30 sec. What I experiance is the tab i want to switch to is fully loaded but it seems like the foreground tab that I'm switching out of wants to load/fully load before switching tabs. Other times both tabs are fully loaded but it's just slow to go. I've got a decent rig and hardware/RAM is not an issue. so what gives? Something in the codeing in these sites? Seems particularry worse with sites that are graphic heavy. Any Ideas?

December 18, 200718 yr Author Conflict? You have way too many! Most of them are performing the same functions. I would guess Ctrl Tab Previes, Tab previews, Tab Mix Plus, Firefox Showcase, Thumbs, and the rest of the preview plug ins are all busy jostling for position, busy making and retrieving cached images... I can get rid of Ctrl Tab Previews and Showcase. Thumbs doesn't run actively unless I click the button (if there is a page with a bunch of hyper links, you click the button and it will open up a new tab with a bunch of thumbnail images of each link) I NEED tab mix plus to have FF function the way I want it to and Tab previews is darn handy (displays little thumb when hovering over a tab) also it was working just fine with all these extensions until a month ago when I started to experience the slow down in switching.
