Blimey. What happen to my original reply? whizzing around in cyberspace no doubt.!

Sometimes tv.c reminsnd me of the old joke:

There is an order of Monks who every 5 years one Monk can stand up and say something.

The first time one Monk gets up and says:

"I don't know about the rest of you but I think that the food here is bloody horrible.

Five years elapse. Another Monk gets up and says. "I totally disagree with you - In fact I find it very good." and sits down.

Five more years elapse.

A hird Monk ges up and says

:"I;m outta here... too much bitching going on!"

Peace and Love and Happy New Yeat

Welcome to the forum Mapguy

I don't understand this "Welcome to the Forum"chant by so many responders. Mapguy has made 1226 posts on this Forum and he's been a Member since 2007 about 4 years. "I've been lurking on this site for a number of months", says Mapguy. How many, may I ask ? 48? "Basically new to Chiang Mai", he says. Really? How come he's a super advanced member? All a little confusing.

Hnah.

Mayguy has given me some invaluable consel over the years!

Wizard: Unfortunately, economics plays a role in Thaivisa, the revenue that can be generated by the owners is directly related to the number of hits it receives, thus controversial threads that generate many hits only enhances T.V.s statistics. A post by lopburi3 or others that is a definitive answer to a thread issue stops dead with that post, while a inaccurate, poorly phrased and misleading post about someones experience at Jomtien immigration can generate hundreds of hits and thus affect statistics in a beneficial way for the owners. However, I must say, the moderators do keep flaming and trolling to a minimum and these practices, if not controlled, would enhance statistics in the short term at least.

Likewise, "emotion only" posts and one word posts, make a posters personal statistics hit the roof, while thoughtful and completely informative posts to the contrary. I for one feel "emotion only" posts are justly criticized by your post and I would support banning them. After all, they are only "f_rts in the wind".

No they are not.....a lot of times they can encapsulate a previous post without a rambling answer. It seems to be the case that there is a contingent of personality types on Thaivisa that struggle with the concept of human interaction. If I read a post that I find particularly amusing I will respond by using this little guy.......

If I have no more to add than that then in my opinion that's fine......it lets the poster know that I appreciate his humour. I'll use emoticons when I see fit, as the one thing lacking from the internet is the ability to read facial or body language. As these types of language definitions are reckoned to account for about 60% of human language interaction that is a big miss.

This is a community forum, populated by humans, it's not Encyclopedia Brittanica or Wikipedia, any too lthat helps social language interaction should be applauded, not banned. passifier.gif

The principle of Occam's Razor suggests a simpler hypothesis: there is a contingent of types on TV that have no personality, and/or are not human.
