Hi all,

Normally I wake up around 6 and do some swimming and excersise untill 7 just to stay fit.

And so I did on Monday.

After that I made myself some nice healthy sandwich together with a cup of tea.

Enjoying the sun coming up, drinking my tea and watching the news I really felt good.

Packed my Labtop and some documents I went down.

Walked to my car that was parked in the parking lot I noticed there was something wrong with my car.

The integrated lights from the bumper where missing....

They must have been with two as on one side the wires where cleanly cut and the other side it was just ripped out.

The parking lot is protected by security but they told me they did not see anything, as I already expected.

The Thai sociaty is sick and full of people without any understanding of the teachings of the great Buddha altough they claim to be Buddhist.

Greed, corruption, stealing and telling lies are the order of the day.

What a great nation this is.

Sorry I did not choose to live here.

Well, thats quite a leap Alex. Something of yours gets stolen therefore all Thai culture is sick. Hmmm....

Theft occurs in every single place around the world. Heck you don't even necessarily need humans as monkeys have been known to thieve as well.

Do you have deep gouges in the side of your car done by idiots with doorkeys too? Was your stereo ripped out after the door window was smashed in?

If Thai people are sick because someone stole your lights then it holds no hope for the people of the rest of the world.

You were unfortunate to have something taken but this has nothing to do with Thailand or Buddhism.

I had a similar episode with my indicators.....they didn't nick them , just smashed both front ones in, no other damage though. Very strange. :D Apart from that, I've had no other problems in LOS in almost 7 years here !!

As one poster said.....it happens all over the world, not just Thailand.

Fully understand the sense of rage & frustration though :o

Very often "security" in this part of the world, not just Thailand, is a complete waste of time especially if you are a foreigner. A lot of the time the security guards are more crooked than the crooks. They just take a hundred Baht bung to look the other way, that is if they are awake to take the bung in the first place.

I think the OP's disgust is directed more at the 'security' than the actual theft.

Yes, agreed. Also "Phil Harries" hit the nail on the head about security. The damage I had was in the compound of my work place. Our sucurity guards (& I use that term very losely) were a waste of time, more often asleep than awake so not much point in them really.

i am sure it was the lady shown in your avatar. frustration and disappointment can lead to terrible things... such as stealing integrated bumper lights.

but the lady does not appear to be thai. she looks very farang².

It's gonna make 4 years that I stay in the same building, car parked just beside the guard because I give him 5000 baht/year to have this place and nothing happened.

It can happen anytime and anywhere to be victim of acts like this but don't need to generalize.

At least, that just lights!

Abroad it will be probably the complete car!

I thought all Thai people follow the teachings of the great Buddha, Now I guess they are not

This Fred is not to bash Thai people.

I was just astonished to find out something was stolen from me in a country that suppose to be a very friendly one and with people respecting eachothers possesions.

I also have problems with my indicators. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't work, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't work...

I remember my first time in samui a few years back. the resort we stayed at had 'night security'.

most nights we'd get back to reception and he'd be lying on the couch deep in z-land - had to give him a nudge to wake and get my key. :o

You are funny, ha ha ha!

How about you name us a culture that is not "sick" and we can go and see if there is any examples of crime taking place in that country.

Thank God I am from a Christian country. Where we all are though to be good and decent people.

Did you know that live fish swim downstream ??

Except for salmon, they go up for sure, ha ha .

mmm, the discovery channel just told me that they swim to the ocean until they want to spawn and die, which is when they swim upstream.

More importantly, theft is a part of life, I would think everywhere. Frankly I see less crime in Thailand and feel safer than in other parts of the world I have lived in.

More importantly, what did your insurance company say about the episode

Posted

Yeah called the insurance and I have to file a police report then they will replace.

Sorry for my initial reaction I was just very very surprised and dissapointed.

Anyway does anyone remember the times that you could leave your bicycle unlocked for a day and it would still be there?

Oh and I guess I have to change my signature after doing some research on fish, ha ha ha.

Cheers all

Its pretty bad allready , but geuss you are right about getting worse .

In the main cities , for us in Chiangmai , you just cant let your car or

motorbike unattended at night anymore , and like Bangkok hard to find a place

to leave your car , so shit all together much indeed .
