oneworld named world’s leading airline alliance for fifth year in a row

oneworld is currently celebrating its fifth year as the world's ‘leading airline alliance’ after walking away with the title at the World’s Travel Awards last week held at the Caribbean's Turks and Caicos.

Its alliance members also received recognition at the awards with British Airways being named the world’s leading airline, Cathay Pacific being named the world’s leading first class airline and American Airlines being awarded the world’s leading economy class.

"oneworld is delighted to have received this tremendous vote of confidence once again from some of the most knowledgeable people in the travel industry worldwide. It reflects the quality of our airline members and our commitment to deliver alliance customer service better than any one else. It's a wonderful way to end what has been a record breaking year for the alliance," said oneworld Vice-President Corporate Communications Michael Blunt.

oneworld completed a record expansion this year, adding 11 new carriers to its alliance.

The World’s Travel Awards were determined by votes cast by 170,000 travel professionals and agents worldwide.
