RaeB
Anybody know a good local boat builder to build an 18' dory style boat?. I have the plans. He needs to be expereinced with "stitch and glue" style construction and glass fibre application. Hope somebody out there can help. Thanks

Have you managed to find proper marine grade plywood required for the build? If so I'd love to know where. Good luck with the builder though Cheers AjarnP
RaeB
Marine ply "visually" resonable and imported from Indonesia available in Phuket town (I intend a composite construction so it does not have to be the very best grade). Also FYI "Epotec" in Thailand I'm told does Lloyds approved epoxy. Main problem at present is finding biaxial tape. Cheers Rae
cloudhopper
Go down the small soi just N of the ha yaek in Chalong that leads to Jimmys lighthouse. About half way to the bay turn left and go about 60 meters til you see a large shop building ply catamarans. Ask for Gunter.

Daffy D
Not really what the OP was after but thought I would just add a bit of tangent interest. Some time ago I read a book forget the exact title something like ‘The fifth wind” about a guy who built a boat in Thailand out of concrete. The guy built this boat somewhere near Bangkok. His Thai friends thought this was wonderful till they discovered that he was actually building it himself not just supervising. Thais are not into DIY. Anyway he got lots of people to help him mainly Farangs at week ends no pay just food and drink. Some craftsmen to do the specialist work. Anyway the boat got built and forget the details now but eventually if I remember right the boat got wrecked in a storm off Hawaii. Just thought I’d share this with you. D.D.
