Does anyone know what the latest trend is for one way flights into Thailand without evidence of departure ?

Im bringing my folks over to Thailand but I dont want to purchase a return flight.

Cheers.

You won't get on the flight unless you have either onward travel within 30 days or a visa.

If you DO bluff your way onboard you won't get past immigration without either onward travel within 30 days or a visa.

WOW! When did that go into effect? Or should I say when did they start enforcing it. I've landed in Thailand many times with neither, no problem. the last time was a year ago though.

It has always been the case. They apparently often don't check, but they should and might do. In which case you can be refused entry.

Thats why the airline will check, they would then be responsible for returning you to your departure point. They WILL check.

Having said that you don't actually need a flight ticket, just a believable means of showing how your folks will exit Thailand inside the Visa Waiver limit.

If you really don't want to do this for whatever reason, they will need to get a Visa.

OK this is sooo simole you buy a one way ticket and make a reservation for the return. This is what I did the last time I went to Thailand as the airline would not carry me unless I had a return ticket, I went to there desk at the airport and made a reservation was given a paper showing my proposed return flight to the UK. Cost FREE and soooooo Simple.

Good advice! I have an O-A Visa and the China airlines reservation lady still gave me a bit of a hard time when I purchased my one-way to BKK, but no problems after that. :o

I always fly China Air and have never been asked? Didn't realize it was an issue?? Guess it depends on the agent. It's good to know and be prepared for the possibility.

The attached statement I was given from the Thai Consul in the UK, says it all really.

Hi There

Does anyone know if I can get a one way ticket for my 18 year old daughter, french, living in France, coming to visit me and to stay here for about 6 / 7 month ?

What would be the kind of visa to ask for, then ?

Thanks all
