Bought a new cbr 150 From airport plaza 2 months ago put on a little under 4000 kilometers 3 weeks of that I was on vacation and had to leave it behind. I noticed dust collecting around the cylinder. Took it in 3 days later it was in a bunch of pieces and they determined the base gasket was bad, pretty much what I thought. They said 2 more days so I went back today and it was still apart they told me 1 more week. So no bike for 12 days. I tried to get a loaner bike as I now have a rental that I am paying for Should I just chill out and enjoy my honda dream rental with brakes that barley work.

Anyone had any experience with airport plaza servce.

Do they replace these things if the repair exceeds a reasonable time or provide loaners.

I know it is under warranty

I think when I buy a new one next time a question I might ask of a Honda shop is if they provide loaners if the service time is excessive.

Just food for thought. :o

My bullet proof opinion of cbrs has gone by the way side.

They should definitely provide you with a loan bike. That being said, I don't know how it works over here. Perhaps they're taking so long because they can't find a replacement part so they keep telling you: 'one more week' until the part arrives.

I will ask around to see if it is the norm for repair shops to give loan bikes when your bike is still under warranty.

I wouldn't expect a loan bike from any Thai shop. Let's face it, Honda aren't going to pay for it, so why should the shop? As a comparison, ask Thais who have crashed their cars, or even been crashed into, to see how they're getting around and they'll probably tell you by taxi or by another family member's car. If most insurance companies aren't doing it, why should shops?

I used the Airport Plaza (Niyom Panich) agency exclusively for my first two years and 24K kilometers; they sold it to me new. Usually they were prompt, and I was so used to American prices for parts and labor, I never complained. Okay, the originally battery went out in a week, and they tried to close on Saturday evening without giving me a new one, but we insisted, and they took care of it that day. They were slow on rebuilding the carburetor (tore half the engine down, too). Loaner bike? Hah! Actually, I never thought to ask.

Unlike the little store front Honda shops, Niyom Panich is no stranger to the CBR150. They probably can't get a part and are afraid to admit it.

Pretty much as I thought. A vip card though that sounds good . I know another honda shop offered me one and it was not expensive and they gave you 10 % off all parts and accessories except oil but I never was informed about the loaner bike thing.I probably would have thought it useless untill now.

Thanks

I've had work done on my CBR150 twice at the shop on Huay Gaew Road (between the Pub and Chiang Mai Hill Hotel) twice and could not have been happier. One trip had the front fork off to replace the shock seals that were leaking, and they got it done in the three hours promised, and polished bright by the time I came back. Have not had a need for a loaner, but for longer jobs you should get one.

Does Honda warranty only extend to the original selling dealer.

Anybody know?

The warranty covers all Honda dealers not just the original. However the shop you are using may tell you to go back to the original dealer if they have to repair the bike for free. I have had my CBR worked on in shops all over Thailand and they have been very good. The biggest problem is if it is more than oil and tune. The CBR is getting much more popular but is still relatively rare outside of the major cities. In my experience the Airport plaza branch of Nihon Panich has always been reliable and I still tend to got there after 40,000 km and four years.

I have also taken it to the dealership opposite the Prince Royal College and they were good. However it is much more of a pain to sit there for a couple of hours when I can wander down to Central and get a decent coffee while I wait.

Getting back to the OP I think the problem will be that they cannot get a part to complete the repair. Also I have not heard of anyone supplying a loan bike here in Thailand while yours is being repaired. I don't know the details of the VIP card so can't comment on that.

Good to read you have the bike back - enjoy, they really are a great bike.

I thought it was one year - mine is out of warranty and can't remember. I think they started an extended warranty card which took it to three but am not sure.
