Hey Ya'll :o ,

I've been in Thailand for almost 3 months now, and initially I entered with a Visa Exemption on my New Zealand Passport.

As usual, I did my Visa Run to Singapore in late October as my 30 day Visa Exemption was going to run out, and entered Thailand with another Visa Exemption. To date I have used 2 Visa Exemptions.

In late November I went to Laos and applied for a Tourist Visa at the Thai Embassy in Vientiene, which was successful, and was issued a 60 day Tourist Visa, which will run out on the 13th of January. Hence, I'll be needing to extend it to another 30 days, which should bring to about the 13th of February.

And the sixty million dollar question is...

1. Becuase my Tourist Visa will run out on the 13th of February, is it possible for me to go to Laos and apply again for another Tourist Visa? What is the general limit on issuing Tourist Visas, on a back-to-back basis?

2. Given my situation and taking into account the 'New Visa Run rules' as stated on the homepage of Thaivisa.com, is it possible to have another 90 days of Visa Exemptions after the 13th of February?

Those rules state that I can not have back-to-back Visa Exemptions until after 90 days of not using them. Given that I'm currently on a Tourist Visa, valid until 90 days after my previous Visa Exemption, would that mean that by the 13th of February I can start doing 3 rounds of Visa Exemptions again?

Terribly sorry for the lecture..

And here's my excuse...I'm only 20 and unfamiliar with these Immigration Rules :D

Thanks in advance for any help! :D

1. Yes. There has not been any strict limits placed.

2. You did not provide a first date of entry so we can not answer that - the rule is six months so if entry was on the 12th you probably could.

The rule is not more than 90 days in a six month period of time. It is subject to local count.

Thanks for your quick reply.

My first date of entry was the 21st September 2007. That was my first time I ever came to Thailand.

I use a NZ passport, have used 2 visa exemptions back to back, currently on a tourist visa (which expires 13th january).

Thanks~

Once you reach 90 days on visa exempt entry you will not be able to obtain more until after 21 March 2008 as your first use of visa exempt for a six month period was 21 September 2007.

If you have a proper tourist visa issued outside Thailand, then that visa is extendable by 30 days at an Immigration Office in Thailand.

so you can get one more 30 visa exempt entry. And then depending on if you stayed 30 days (inclusive of entry and exit day) on each of your previous visa exempt entries, you might wind up a week or so short of being able to get a fourth visa exempt entry without getting a tourist visa or leaving the country for a week.
