Reward For Artists Information

During a recent visit to Pattaya I discovered an artist on the Thappraya Road from Jomtien to Pattaya the studio is located quite close to the German Dental lab travelling towards Pattaya it is on the left hand side. I have attached a picture that I saw in his studio window & if you have seen this striking work of art you will certainly know the studio

If anyone can assist in obtaining the details of this guy I would much appreciate it. I would like to commission this guy to paint a picture for my wife's birthday as a special surprise on our return in the New Year.

There will be a reward for the person who comes up with the information hope one of you guys can help

I'm afraid I have to disappoint you, very much so:

The Lady on the painting is the famous Chinese actress Gong Li and was painted by a very famous painter: Jiang GuoFang, 1951, April 27, Shangjiang Village, Jiangxi Province/China.

There are 2 possibilities:

1. It is a copy of the painting created by Jiang GuoFang; but looking further at your pic I think it's a double fold from a book, isn't it ? (or an enlargement of two book pages). The -original- painting itself was painted in 1997 '2' (February).

In my opinion it could have been copied by the owner (or one of his painters) of the studio; but I think it's just an Art book enlargement.

The owner will tell you he -the copyist- is working for him but you will never know.

You will be extremely disappointed when you receive a painting of your wife when you commission the studio/owner, expecting the same quality !

I think it's more an attraction to 'lure' customers in order to commission portraits with the same studio.

Don't forget that portraits are extremely difficult to paint, especially if they are painted in oil; in oil it takes at least a few days, if not weeks, to paint a high quality like this. (Only 1 painter I know of can do this in a few days; see below).

This is another very famous Chinese painter, Li Zijian, now living in California. I met Li Zijian and his wife in 2000 and bought a painting from him.

I have to tell you that a friend of mine commissioned 2 portrait-paintings in Pattaya with a studio and prepaid most of the money.....I'll spare you the details but it was a complete disaster; got a bit of his money back, but the disappointment was great.

Better search for a high quality painter in your own country.

I think he is in Sedona,AZ which in one beautiful place play golf and also a great place to live. However his golf bets may not pay off as well as your financial investments ...
