40 kG is a very small package to send by sea freight ( and rather large/expensive to send by air).

You will be charged agents fees at either end which are fixed regardless of the value of goods/freight.

1. Your best bet would probably be to break it up into 4 or 5 packages and send

via the Post Office by ordinary surface mail. Buy the official Thai post office packing boxes.

2. If you are flying to China yourself, then talk to the airline about "Unaccompanied Excess Baggage",

this can be very much cheaper than either excess baggage or air freight.

It is apparently very difficult to mail books into China. Naka's suggestion sounds better.
