There are lovely places south of there where you can rent a complete house for 2000B a day. Beautiful and deserted beaches, not a farang in sight

Thanks for the replies guys, we're travelling with 2 young children, so not too isolated please. A hotel in or near prachuap is just fine.

Is there anything recommend to visit or see with a few hours to spare?

Sam Roi Yod National Park about a half hour north of Prachuab is nice. Ao Manao, a beautiful bay, just south of Prachuab is wonderful spot for the kids to play at the beach. A boat ride around the islands is pleasant. Further south, Baan Krud and the coast south of Thap Sakae is a nice day trip from Prachuab.

Ao Manao is inside an Air Force Base (entry gate at the south end of town) .. which has a decent guest house that civilians can rent. You really need some sort of transport, but it should be pretty kid friendly. The beach at Ao Manao is much better than the city beach.

Base also has a small "not so great" 9 hole golf course, but you can play as many rounds as you want for 1 green fee.

I have stayed at 2 hotels there and next time will stay at the AF base.

We want to take the family (mini bus) from Bangkok and visit Ao Manao in October for 3 nights.

Would like to rent a house near there, 2000 baht a day would be good. Any more details on what you mentioned above please.
