Thinking about booking with Emirates for my next flight to BKK, the only problem is the 9 hour 15 mins in Dubai from 00.25 until 09.25. Now if i was traveling alone it would be no problem, a few beers and doss down on some seats or on the floor in some quiet corner somewhere but i have a female traveling companion and she ain't to keen on this idea!

Anyone know if there is a hotel somewhere at the airport and what the prices are?

Failing that it is an extra £150 from Manchester!

Thanks for any help.

There is a hotel in the arport. Sorry I do not know rates. There is a spa just around the corner from the hotel desk. There you can relax, take a nice warm shower for about $14.00, swimming pool, jacuuzi, billiards, and a gym. The duty free is fairly large with good prices compared to other duty free at other airports. Dubai is one of the best airports to travel through IMO.

If you were to fly with Etihad and encounter a stop in Abu Dhabi of that length of time, they would put you up in a hotel free of charge. Worth a look, as its not very often that you'll be in transit for 9 hours with Etihad....the normal in transit time with Etihad is a couple of hours. They are alot cheaper and IMO far superior to Emirates

You don't say when you are travelling or how near you are to Manchester but ebookers are offering Emirates at £516 Birmingham to Bangkok for dates in May with 1.5 hrs changeover in Dubai both directions.

Im up in The Lake District, pretty much similar distances to Manchester and Newcastle, Newcastle perhaps 20 mins closer. Hoping to travel around 1st Feb.

Thaks for your help!

I flew with Etihad last Jan, no complaints whatsoever. Paid £398 from Manchester, crappy airport tho Abu Dhabi, i would certainly not want to spend 9.5 hours there with a complaining female!!

Also in October got a flight with China Airlines, just over £530 but their prices are just crazy at the moment. I am however confident that these prices will drop in the coming weeks, we are flexible.

I think those days of flights <£400 are long gone, Etihad seem to have joined the ranks of the other airlines regarding prices and have certainly realised when the holidays are in UK as they have priced themselves out at those times. Can only hope they will get no bookings and drop prices nearer the time.

Generally May will be the cheapest month to travel until October
