I thought that I would give Thaivisa's sponsor and travel agency a try. I inquired to book the least expensive one-way ticket to Chiang Mai from Bangkok for the end of this month. I received an email back within twenty four hours stating that the lowest price they could find was 3975 baht which was economy on Thai Airways. I was in shock!

I checked flights for the same day at the following airlines websites and found the following prices which include tax:

Air Asia 1175.95

Nok Air 1430.00

OnetwoGo 1850.00

Thai Airways 2090.00

I cannot understand why Thaivisa's prices are almost double that of the highest on line quote that I got. Do sponsors not realize that in this day of internet technology that one can easily check out the competition very easily? And, do they still expect us to support them if their prices are way out of wack?

well, you were offered the official full "Y"-fare. I dont know if the Thai travel agents have access to the cheaper online "saver"-fares....

as for the other airlines: Travel agents usually never deal with the budget airlines, not in Thailand and not anywhere in the world.... so u cannot blame them for only offering THAI AIR.

but I agree that this kind of "travel agency" is seriously damaging THAIVISA's reputation. definitely NOT worth using their services, expensive (because THAIVISA wants its share of the commission as well) and mostly clueless.... I did some inquiries with them and the result was poor....

My experience with Thai travel agencies is they quote the highest fare, then get you the cheapest fare and pocket the difference. Like many Thai companies they don't rely on making a little bit on the repeat business but only want to make the maximum on every sale.

Don't waste your time just go direct via the internet.
