:o can anyone help? i am a 58 year british citizen,on a 2 month tourist visa,,my questions... [1] do i need a marriage visa to marry a thailand lady? [2] if yes,[a]what are the requirements of obtaining one ? from where? --- [3] if no [a] what is then the purpose of a marriage visa? would the marriage be legal? --- [4] once married, is it then a straightforward process to obtain a visa/visas that would allow me to somehow remain in thailand indefinately with my wife? -----[5] or- would it be easier for me to obtain a retirement visa ? being able to only show a bank balance of 600,000 baht, but with no monthly income at present. thank you all in anticipition of your help in this matter.

1. No. There is not such visa in any case.

2. NA

3. NA

4. There are several options:

a. Retirement extension of stay for one year at a time with 800k in bank for 3 months prior to application, 65k monthly pension/income as listed on a letter from your Embassy or a combination of the two to meet the 800k requirement. This costs 1,900 baht per year.

b. Family extension of stay for one year at a time with combined monthly income of 40k. Tax payment proof or Embassy letter for overseas money. This also requires both people to apply each time and a larger amount of paperwork that (a).

c. Single or multi entry non immigrant O visa to visit wife for period of 90 days at a time.

5. 600k and no income will not obtain a retirement extension of stay. But this probably would allow Singapore to issue you a multi entry non immigrant O visa valid for 12 months. You would also need marriage certificate and copy of wife ID card.
