Hi everybody ,

Lately I was searching this forum and sometimes came across some points

which I also needed to know .

Now about Chiangmai , Im am trying to make the extension based on retirement for my mother .

She has an embassy certificate stating she has income of 870k the year .

Last week I read that Lopburi did not know in specific ,if Chiangmai immgr required proof

of transfers to Thailand . I went there today , telling me they need proof of money transferred .

First they told me no just proof you have it yearly , does not matter how much you cash in every month .

So I was pretty happy , walking to my motorbike , and the boy came after me saying his boss now told

him , she( his boss) was mistaken and that it wasn't yearly anymore , but instead needing to withdraw

or proof a monthly transfer (65k), if not no extension possible .

So now I am a bit confused , do you really have to transfer the amount monthly or is just Chiangmai ?

How it is stated now it seems like they want you to spend it also , but perhaps in one way they are

mistaken a bit , I have never read it on this forum .

So what to do now , fly back makig another multiple non O , or try to take my mom , with some bank receipts

which don't specifically amount a 65k withdrawal every single month , but does show a monthly pension higher then that Maybe best to take a gamble and just go like I know nothing , sometimes asking many questions could make it harder then it is , perhaps .

Anyway in Chiangmai they do ask proof of transfer which this topic is all about .

And sorry for the long thread .....

I would give it a try of she has an account and is making deposits and withdrawals. All they can say is no and as you already found out there seems to be confusion. I expect what they really want is some activity to show that living expenses are coming in and being used and that the exact amounts would not be that important.

Thanks Lopburi .

I will just give it a try , and you confirm my feeling , confusion .

I hope that the exact amounts do not matter .

Would be strange anyway , if the answer is no , meaning you cannot

save your own money on the bank you prefer , unless you have excesses

of 65k ofcourse .....

I will type down any other developments , so other members wanting to go this

road will know what to expect , at least in Chiangmai .

Maybe someone can tell their own experience on this matter ,

will appreciate it very much .

The confusion feeling is seconded , first I let my wife go to the immgr another time

to question their remarks earlier .

Obviously they understood my questions wrong , confusing it thinking I meant

probably something different .

Anyway took my mom over and very easily gave her a 1 year extension .

Also no need for proof of any transfer . She went the 9th of January and is given

until the ninth of Jan 2009 .

Well the only thing I can say is that when you are a foreigner alone or a couple

and there isn't anyone who can help you out , it can be very stressful .

The biggest part I think is the communication , although some can speak pretty good English,

they cannot think in English very well , hearing different things that you are saying .

The same story for most of us when able to speak reasonable Thai , we can follow it

but until a certain extend , when it starts to go in the area of ' about ' what they're talking about .

A small issue can become a big misunderstanding ....

But all not least , I got the extension on retirement for my mother pretty easy after all .

Even telling us when their is some movement on the bank account their is not really an

certification of income from the embassy needed .

Anyway it was a tiring but also a positive experience .
