I read in my LP guide that its closed every so often. I need to go there and get a new stamp as my visa runs out on the 18th. Is this border crossing accessible at the moment?

IN my 8 years of living in and travelling through Thailand, I have found Mae Sai only to close when "tensions" rise between Myanmar & Thailand - fair comment?
