AVG - with almost daily updates + AdAware + ZoneLabs/SpyBlocker + WinPatrol/Scotty

does "a-squared Free 3.1.0.20" anything the already installed Progs don't do?

Why you don't test it?

Using multiple programs instead of one is for sure a solution but a good one? May they need more resources but may they even slows down your system?!

If I can uninstall some bunch of programs and use one which do all the things in one, that's a solution for me!

Thanks for the link to A-squared, Reimar.......... I ran it and it found the Sohanad A Worm on my system - in spite of the fact that I also regularly sweep with MS Defender, Comodo BOClean and Spybot Search & Destroy. But, if you are saying use only one spyware/malware scanner, I respectfully disagree; it seems common for one programme to identify spyware/malware that another one or more misses.

It's fine if you dusagree with me! My answer was about that the comment to my post was done without to give the prog a try! I don't like comments like that because without to give the other site a chance any negative comment (and that commant was negative) shows nothing but ignorance!

I for myself use different systems but run only one as TSR! The other progs I use set to run on schedule.

Well, sorry I stepped unintentional on your cyber foot, wasn't meant that way - thought we having a discussion here. Well...

As Steve2uk already pointed out - it is commonly known that some do miss certain intruders and some proggies simply don't do waht others can, thats why the mixture!

Still haven't got an answer to my question - why install and try - simply put more data onto the system - just to find out - if we have a forum to exchange experience and knowledge?

Thanks “Reimar” for the link to the a-Squared program. I’ve been using it and though it has not yet found anything that my other programs had missed I will keep it running.

For those using the program I guess you’ve found out that you can’t just click OK at the end of a scan as it picks up some false positives that you do not want to get rid off. In my case it was the Microsoft RegClean program.

Discussed Here

Do not allow a-Squared to delete the Program Files folder for Microsoft RegClean.

If you use Microsoft RegClean, you will need to re-install and fix the deleted link and desktop.

Seems strange that a-Squared hits on a safe program like RegClean. I don’t understand too much about some of the programs flagged as a potential threat, I read somewhere that even if it has a recognizable name the file extension can make it a threat, so how am I to know? That’s why I like programs that do that thinking for me and just let me click the OK button. :o

An “ignore” option seems to be missing from the program, this means that same safe programs will be flagged on every scan or have I missed the “ignore” option?

Daffy D. :D

Have to agree with Daffy. While I was glad that A-squared found and quarantined the Sohanad-A worm, it did also identify what turned out to be a couple of "false positives" (sorry I can't remember which now) that I nearly deleted but - fortunately - took the precaution of Googling to investigate before doing so.

Like all strong/aggressive programmes of this type, you have to be careful with them...............
