Bandwidth Test In Thailand Ok, But Try Overseas .....

We pay for what we hope is good service when we get broadband. Tmax has upgraded me from 512 kbs to 1024 kbs with a loyality bonus making it about 1350 kbs or so as a good customer. But this week I can get NOWHERE faster than a tortoise.

Instead of moaning about TMax and thoughts of "Upgrading" to a more expensve package, I though I would check my bandwidth to somewhere outside Thailand on a remote testing site. I used www.Speedtest.net as recommended in another post .

It appears it is not Thailand bandwidth problems, but restriction getting overseas.

I did several bandwidth test around 13:30 today (Saturday):

TMax says I have 1.29mb and can "download" at 165 kbs

www.Speedtest.net says speedcheck on BKK is 1339 download and 427 Upload

www.Speedtest.net says speedcheck on LDN is 99 download and 30 Upload

It appears it is not bandwidth problems within Thailand, but restriction getting overseas.

Now is that due to congestion or due to an overload on the That Government's, or US NSA, monitoring system ?

Or am I being "Throttled" as I am looking overseas at sites like Bangkokpost.com, Pattayamail.com, Thaivisa.com, or any other non Thai based web hosts serving the english speaking community?.

It's lack of international Bandwith! As long as the TOT and TRUE didn't upgrade, which means buy more Bandwith, the int. speed will be slow!

I’m afraid this situation is just normal , if you look at the continuous

Daily postings from people who are so fed up with the poor quality

of the internet service , we have to remember here in Thailand

what you pay for and have been promised means absolutely nothing

Customer service is as bad as it could get , guarantees and assurances are

Just words to fob you off, pay your money and then they couldn't care less

what a sad state of affairs ....
